Amicus Online FAQ

How safe is my data in Amicus Online?

Data in Amicus Online is more secure than data on the computers and networks of almost any law firm. Amicus Online uses data centers built and managed by Microsoft. The security – both physical and cyber – is tremendous, and has been certified by many international standards organizations.

Which is why some of the most security-conscious companies in the world (e.g. NASA) use the same platform. Every piece of data is instantly backed up onto redundant servers. All transmissions of your data are done with 256-bit encryption – which is what banks use for your most sensitive financial data.

Besides your unique login ID, Amicus Online requires a “strong” password that you specify – which no one, not even Amicus, can decrypt. You will be guided through setting this up when you first set up your account. If you want to be ultra-secure, you can even set up “double-factor authentication”, which requires a random unique code that will be texted to your cell phone before you log in each time.

Several of us in our firm want to try Amicus Online. Should we sign up separately or together?

How do I add more users to my firm?

Click the “Add User” button to add more. When you have added everyone you want, click the “Send Login” button to send them an email that invites them to login.

Yes – and so much more! Everything you do and see in Outlook is instantly in Amicus Online, and vice versa. They both work from the same database, so there’s no issue with synchronizing two systems. It’s not a link – it’s live!

What is Microsoft Exchange, and why is it needed?

Microsoft Exchange is the world’s leading email server. It is used by Amicus Online to provide total email integration, dynamic integration with smartphones and more. Many firms already have Exchange. If you do, Amicus will connect to it. If you don’t, it’s easy to get, or Amicus can provide it for you (really easily – just a couple of clicks!).

If I get the optional Amicus Hosted Exchange, who is my email provider?

Amicus Hosted Exchange is provided by Intermedia, the world’s largest and best provider of hosted Exchange.

Do I have to change my email address to get email integration?

No. You can keep your current email address. However, if your current email address is something basic like Gmail or Hotmail, you might want to use one of the more professional ones we provide. Your choice.
